This year we decided to hold our annual boat show at the new Burlington Harbor Marina as a “dry run” for next year’s ACBS International Show. The morning started out very windy from the northwest with 2-3’ waves coming in. This put the wave attenuator to work, water spraying over the top of it, and we could feel it move gently under our feet. We abandoned the idea of setting up our tent. Our docking plan was quickly corrupted as a few boats did not want to risk being tied sideways to the inside of the wave attenuator after seeing the 4” steel pipe running along the base. Steve’s 15’ Lyman, Aqua Baby, had spent the night tied to the attenuator through the worst of the wind with no damage. The northwest wind had actually kept her away from it. The wind died off by about 8:30 and from then on the weather was perfect. We had 26 boats on display in the water, and 6 land displays. We had dinner on the 3rd floor deck of the Community Sailing Center, which had an unsurpassed view of the lake and the breezes made for a lovely gathering.
