July 2005

The Mashnee restoration is moving ahead but the scope of the project has greatly expanded....

 

 

 

 

 

December 2005

The Mashnee project is going full bore at George’s shop on Ferry Rd. in Charlotte.  Frames are being steamed and bent in into place.

 March 2006 progress continues...

April - 06

George found old growth Yellow Pine for the bottom planking. 
A mill operator (down south) locates lost submerged logs on a river bottom.
They were logged some 100 years ago  + or -

Notice (below) the tight grain of the old growth lumber.


Mast Step ready for installation.

Early October 2006

It turned out that there were problems with a good deal of the plank material pictured above. So there were delays while locating new wood for the planks. 
In October the plank installation started up again.

November 28, 2006 Up Date.

Double Planking above the waterline. 
Cyprus for the inner planks and Douglas Fur for the outer Planks.

  
The deadwood ready for shaping  and 9550 lbs. of ballast just arrived.


2-23-07 “Whiskey plank” Installed - She sure is pretty.

Paint on the hull and the bulk heads are being built.


     

  
The rudder is ready to be  installed.
