Lake Champlain Chapter ACBS Meeting June 8, 2005 5:30 PM
Members Present: Steve Pond, Mike O‘Brien, Myndy Woodruff, Hans Pfister, Mike Munson, Larry Asam, Ed Bombard, Tom Anderson, Guy Cote, Anne & John Weeks, Jan Dean, Judy Grosvenor President Steve Pond opened the business meeting. Minutes of the previous meetings were circulated, read, and approved by a motion made by Myndy Woodruff and seconded by Mike O’Brien. Web Site Larry Asam was asked to post the 2005 Boat Show registration form on the web site. Copies of the web site boat photos page and calendar of events were shown at the meeting to those without web site access. Mike O’Brien asked if the minutes in their entirety should be put on the web site. Discussion followed. Motion Myndy Woodruff moved the minutes of the Board meeting be put on the web site. Mike Munson seconded the motion and it carried. Treasurer’s Report Mike Munson stated that LCACBS is financially solvent. To date there is $3,310.13 in the Treasury. Membership Report In Jan Rozendaal’s absence, Tom Anderson and Mike O’Brien gave a membership report as follows: There are currently 107 members with 84 known e mail addresses, 23 unknown. There are 24 members who have not paid their dues this year. These two lists were circulated by Mike O’Brien; those of members without e mail addresses and non renewal members for follow up to be made by Board members. Mike was thanked for his attention to these matters. Steve Pond suggested that we make a donation to the Battle of Plattsburgh Museum after an informative talk was made by Rich Loveland, the Executive Director of this museum at the April Spring Meeting gathering in Plattsburgh. Discussion followed. Motion Tom Anderson moved we donate $100.00 to the Battle of Plattsburgh Museum. John Weeks seconded the motion and it passed. 2005 Boat Show, Essex, New York August 20th John Weeks announced that both marinas in Essex have been contacted. The format and meal menu will be basically the same as last year. A reception will take place on Friday, August 19th. Motion John Weeks moved that we dedicate this year’s boat show to Bill Ladue, one of the founding fathers of our chapter, who passed away the day after last year’s boat show. Mike Munson seconded the motion and it carried. This is the 20th anniversary of our Lake Champlain Chapter ACBS. A history of this organization will be printed in the boat show program. It is hoped that the ship, The Replica of the Saratoga will be brought to the boat show. It was also suggested that the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum be contacted to give long boat rides at the boat show. Hackercrafts will also be sought for boat show rides. All publications have been contacted with our boat show date and information. Local television station, WCAX will be contacted for coverage that day. Awards Mike Munson, Award Chairman, asked if any changes need to be made in giving out awards. Discussion showed that everyone was pleased with the awards the way they stand. Mike was complimented for his fine work year after year. Summer Cruise Tom Anderson gave out brochures with motel and registration information regarding the Summer Cruise to Old Forge, New York on July 8th and 9th. Larry will put a copy of the brochure on the Web Site. Calendar of Events and Changes The first LCACBS rendezvous on June 12th will be changed from Westport, New York to Essex, New York. The rendezvous at Westport will be on Saturday, August 6th. Mark your calendar. Myndy Woodruff announced that Wings, Wheels and Keels will be on Sunday, September 11th. More cars and boats are needed for the show. The next Rudder Magazine will carry an article about this event. The Fall Cruise on the Richelieu River from Rouses Point to Chamblay will take place the weekend of September 17th and 18th. Details to follow. This popular cruise is being repeated. Newsletter The next newsletter will be published on e mail only but will be sent by postal mail in an abbreviated form to those members without e mail addresses. Check the web site www.lcacbs.com.
