Lake Champlain Chapter Antique and Classic Boat Society Board of Director’s Meeting

February 8, 2006

Jan Dean’s Residence, Plattsburgh, N. Y.

 

Members Present: Myndy Woodruff, Ed Bombard, Steve Pond, Hans Pfister, Tom Anderson, Larry Asam, Mike Munson, Mike O’Brien, Bill Truex, Guy Cote, Clem and Patty Couture, Judy Grosvenor, and hostess, Jan Dean. 

 

The meeting was called to order by Myndy Woodruff, President.

 

The minutes of the October Annual meeting were reviewed, corrected and approved.  See web site for corrected minutes.

Treasury Report

Mike Munson, Treasurer reported a current balance of $2,214.21 and the report was placed on file. Bill Truex moved we accept the Treasurer’s report, Ed Bombard seconded and the motion passed.

President’s Report  

Myndy Woodruff thanked Jan Dean, hostess for having the meeting. Membership was discussed.  Steve Pond presented the non renewal member names to be contacted.   To date there are 98 members.

Two positions are needed on the Board: a Hospitality Chairperson to introduce new members and create an atmosphere for involvement, and a Youth Activities Director to introduce in an exciting way our purpose to our young people.

A “Poker Run” was suggested to be possibly tied in to the summer boat rendezvous.

It was decided that we will not sell raffle tickets for National ACBS.

Boat Show

Mike O’Brien, Chairman made his preliminary report as follows:

Ø      The LCACBS 21st Annual Boat Show is in partnership this year with the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum and will be called The Maritime Festival 2006.

Ø      A contract has been made with the Burlington Boathouse for Friday and Saturday nights, August 18 and 19 for boat dockage of approximately 55 boats.

Ø      Boat dock reservations may be made by credit card to Adam Cate, Dock Master with a charge for both nights’ dockage.

Ø      There will be a festival entry fee of $10.00 per individual or $25.00 for a family of four. The plan is to sell 5,000 “destinations buttons”@ $10.00 (total $50,000) to be used at the following destinations: The Lake Champlain Community Sailing Center, The Lake Champlain U. S. Coast Guard Base, Lake Champlain ACBS Boat Show, Lake Champlain Echo Center, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum (Burlington shipyard), Lake Champlain Transportation (Ferry Dock) and the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum (Lois McLure) tour and model boat finishing.

Ø      The Vermont Air National Guard Charitable Foundation, Inc. will sponsor a “Thunderbirds” fly over about 2:00 PM .

Ø      The LCACBS boats will parade at about 4:30 PM .

Ø      An invitation/registration form will be sent out with details including the Saturday night dinner upstairs in the Boathouse.

Ø      On Sunday, August 20th there will be a brunch cruise on the ship, The Northern Lights by invitation only.

Ø      A tentative list of Boat Show Committee positions was circulated.

Ø      A Chris Craft kit boat building was discussed to be built by the youth and their parents Details are being formulated.

Ø      An events budget is being developed by the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival.

 

Workshops

Ed Bombard announced the next boat workshop to be held at Jody Lapham’s in Bridport on Saturday, February 18. George Darling will host the final workshop on April 1st.

 

The deadline for the next newsletter is Saturday, April 15th.

 

A 2006 LCACBS Events Calendar was circulated.

 

LCACBS Spring Meeting

Clem Couture announced the spring meeting to take place on Saturday, April 29th at the Comfort Inn in Plattsburgh .  A possible presenter at the meeting will be the Lois McClure excursion to New York City .

The next Director’s Meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 7th.

Calendars

Hans Pfister presented the idea of selling the LCACBS calendars to firms, such as marinas. No decision was finalized.

New Business

Tom Anderson suggested that our club have a library or browsing room to be a repository for past boating periodicals and other LCACBS materials and memorabilia.  Bill Truex and Steve Pond offered to explore room spaces in Burlington .

 

The meeting was adjourned to a buffet supper served by hostess, Jan Dean.
