Lake Champlain Chapter Antique & Classic Boat Society Board Meeting

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 5:00 p.m.

Ferry Dock Office Burlington, Vermont

Members Present: Bill Aldrich, Hans Pfister, George Maffey, Guy Cote, Mike O’Brien, Steve Pond, Bill Truex, Keith Gaylord, Judy Grosvenor

The meeting was called to order by the President, George Maffey at 5:00 p.m.

Secretary’s Report

The Secretary’s minutes from the last meeting were approved by a motion made by Hans Pfister and seconded by Steve Pond.

Treasurer’s Report

In Treasurer Mike Munson’s absence, Mike O’Brien reported that for Fiscal Year 2008-2009 there is $7,296.30 in the Treasury. Mike Munson recommended the money be moved from the current bank, due to increased fees. Motion: Keith Gaylord moved that the LCACBS funds be moved from Wachovia Bank to a bank to be named. Bill Aldrich seconded the motion and it passed.

The ACBS Treasurer, Jim Mersman , sent notice that the LCACBS Group Exemption Certificate Request was filed on January 15, 2009. It may take the IRS 90 days for approval.

Membership

Steve Pond reported a total membership of 94 with 22 non renewals. Those persons will be contacted to determine their intentions. It was suggested that we would better inform new members by sending to them a new member letter, calendar, newsletter and other pertinent information. Helene Lang will be contacted to hopefully be the correspondent.

Youth Program

Motion: Mike O’Brien moved we underwrite for membership (at $45.00 each) the three youth members in our LCACBS chapter. Keith Gaylord seconded the motion and it carried. A youth rendezvous will be planned sometime in the future.

Newsletter

Larry Asam has resigned as editor of the newsletter, Port & Starboard. Larry will continue to supply photos. A search is on for a newsletter editor. The next newsletter deadline is April 10th. Please submit articles by that date to Mike O’Brien who will work with Minuteman Press until a new editor is found.

Both the newsletter and the web site have been placed in nomination for ACBS national awards.

Summer 2009 Rendezvous’ and Quad Events

A revision of the rendezvous events will be coordinated with the Quad events by Mike O’Brien. See attached revision and LCACBS events dated March 3rd.

Pre-Boat Show Meeting

George Maffey, Hans Pfister, Mike Munson, and Mike O’Brien met to discuss the LCACBS Boat Show to be held at the Westport Marina in Westport, New York on Saturday, August 8th. Ships in attendance at this show for the Quad events will be, The Lois McClure and The Philadelphia..

Chapter Name Badges Bill Aldrich will send Mike O’Brien a design logo possibility for chapter name badges.

Announcements

In June of 2010, our LCACBS Chapter will be hosting the International ACBS Quarterly meeting in Burlington.

2010 is also our chapter’s 25th anniversary year.

The ACBS meeting will be held at St Michaels, Maryland from June 19-21. Bill Truex, ACBS Board member will be attending. Others from our chapter are invited to attend with him.

Please check the ACBS Ship’s Store catalogue on line for many new items for sale.

The LCACBS Spring dinner will take place on Saturday, April 25th at 5:00 p.m. at Anthony’s Restaurant in Plattsburgh, New York.

The next Board of Director’s meeting will held on Wednesday, June 3rd at the Ferry dock Office in Burlington at 5:00 p.m.

The next Workshop will take place on March 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Spencer Boatworks Saranac Lake, New York.
