Happy New Year to All!...2008 should prove to be
another great year of interesting and fun events for the
Chapter from LCACBS Workshops to Rendezvous to The Boat Show to
The Annual Fall Cruise. To kick off the new year, our first
workshop will be held January 26 10am-12noon. Myndy has graciously offered to open
his hangar for this event and will be hosted by Mike Munson. As
a way of jump starting the youth program and The"Miss Ruby" project
Mike and The Youth Committee will direct members on an assortment of
preliminary jobs that will start getting the boat in shape. The workshop
is a hands on event and we hope you will plan to attend and help us with this
project. As in the past lunch and discussion will follow.
We are also pleased to announce
that work is underway for The 23rd Annual LCACBS Boat Show in
Westport which will also coincide with the Westport
Heritage Festival August 8-9. Please start thinking
about making this a weekend event and possibly a stay in
Westport. There will be plenty to do for the whole family. Westport
is a beautiful, small and compact town boasting an outstanding golf
course, summer theater (The Depot Theatre), B&B's, Music
Pavilion on Ballard Park, and more...Upcoming newsletters will fill
you in on Boat Show and Heritage Festival and other town
details as it develops and firmed-up. I am gathering brochures
from each of the above entities and would be delighted to mail these
to you upon request. I am very much looking forward The Boat
Show in 2008 which will be good practice for an even better one in
2009 when both New York and Vermont celebrate The 400th Anniversary
of Samuel deChamplains discovery of Lake Champlain (The
QUAD) on this most beautiful and important body of water.
Finally, realizing how busy The Fall Season is for everyone we
would like to develop our Fall Cruise plans as early as possible. We
have had discussions for another Adirondack visit and would like a member(s)
to oversee and coordinate a date and destination. The thinking
is the earlier we set our plans the more members will participate.
Also, The LCACBS web site (lcacbs.com) is updated on a regular
basis. Should you have any questions regarding event dates you can
check the web site or please don't hesitate to contact me at 518 962
4072 or gmaffey@westelcom.com for
more information. By the way, if you haven't visited the web
site recently, Larry Asam has done a spectacular job putting
together a artistic slide show with sound track...The site has
received great reviews!...See you the 26th...George
