It smells like Spring, the ice is blowing around Lake Champlain, but you can't be certain because of the snowstorm!!

About 20 of us attended a very interesting workshop hosted by Jody Lapham, at his home.  We all want to thank him for starting us off properly with coffee and crumpets.  While enjoying the food and drink,  Henry and Jody narrated their excellent slide show of the restoration work done to date on the Faye & Bowen launch. We then went into Jody's storage barn to see the real thing....then proceeded into his shop to look for an update on the Lozier, and also learned how to roll the edge on a scraper the right way...Jody's shop is very orderly...he says he straightened it up just for us!!!....ACBS National President, our own Gene Porter, made the trip from New Hampshire and filled us in on happenings around the country, including the bruhah about discharges from pleasure craft the government is fighting about.....A good morning was had by all...thank you again Jody.

The Lake Champlain ACBS Vintage Boat Show is taking shape, August 8-9. Please get your reservations in for overnight stays in Westport, Depot theatre,or golf...You can check-out the Westport Chamber site www.westportny.com or call or email me for more information and help.

At the last Board meeting we decided to invite canvas covered canoes and guide boat owners to come to the show.  It is our goal to broaden interest in our club and events, get the word out about the chapter, and appeal to a broader audience.  We are planning the canoe exhibit for the Ballard Park Lawn adjacent to the marina, and hope to attract families and young people to the Westport Heritage Festival & Vintage Boat Show.  If you have a canvas covered canoe, a guideboat, or know anyone who does, please bring or invite them to the show. Hans Pfister is organizing this effort and will send you or your friends more info upon request.  Please call or email Hans at 802 244 5160 hpfisters@aol.com .
