October 2, 2007

September was a busy month for the Chapter. The rendezvous at Basin
Harbor was a wash out due to rain, wind and low clouds, but we did
have a nice luncheon at the Red Mill. It is just as well that there
was no Wings, Wheels and Keels this year as the low weather would
have been a drag. The planned photo shoot with Larry Asam did not
happen. We needed a fresh shot of Agitator for the Calendar, so Kate
and I meet Larry at the Waterbury reservoir a week later. I have
enclosed one of his photos. It is a wow! Larry sure has a great eye
for lighting, along with the skills and equipment to get it right.
Thank you Larry Asam.

On the bright side, the ACBS meeting and Boat Show at Lake George was
a great success. Our own LCACBS member Gene Porter was installed as
President. Congratulations Gene! Gene understands the importance of
boat preservation and he was the leader in getting the ACBS to
recognize preserved boats vs. restored boats. The ACBS is in good
hands with Gene at the helm. Several Lake Champlain members
attended. Ed Bombard carried on the Fall Cruise tradition with a
Lake George cruise in Wild Rose. Mike O'Brien will be serving on Jim
Shotwell's Youth Committee. Look for an article in the upcoming
Rudder by Mike.

October is an important month for the Chapter. There will be a 5 PM
Board meeting on October 3rd at the LCT office with dinner following
at the Shanty. The Chapter's annual meeting and awards banquet will
be October 14th aboard the Northern Lights. Hope to see you all
there. Please make your reservation asap.
