The Chapter's annual Show in Burlington was great fun. Chairman Mike
O'Brien did a fine job of orchestrating our Show and Burlington
Maritime Days. It was nice to see a lot of new faces with great
boats on the docks and on the awards list. The evening awards dinner
on the Adirondack was a special treat! The only downer was that the
Antique Boat Parade was cancelled due to high winds, so we did not
get many photo opportunities. Award winners, please be sure that
Mike Munson or Hans Pfister has a good photo of your boat and a
proper write up that can be used on the 2008 Chapter Calendar.
Now is a good time to plan ahead to see how many 2008 calendars you
can use, and perhaps consider buying a significant quantity for your
business to send out at Christmas. Hans Pfister can have your
business calendars customized with your logo! We need to sell a lot
of calendars for the number$ to to be positive. The Chapter calendar
is THE BEST WAY to keep track of all the Chapter activities and
rendezvous.
The next rendezvous will be Sunday, September 9th at Basin Harbor.
Larry Asam, photographer extraordinary, will set up on the south
point of the harbor entrance at 11 AM to photograph incoming boats.
Please show off your boat with left and right turns for the cameras.
Larry shoots with a tripod and long lens , so you should be a couple
hundred yards out for the photo shoot. Call Larry at 802 244-7954 if
you have questions. Plan to dock in front of the Harbor Master's
office. This is a good opportunity to get nice photograph of your
boat and for the Chapter to update the photo albums. 12:30 lunch
will follow at the Red Mill. Perhaps an impromptu boat parade will
follow lunch... Note that there is no Wing, Wheel & Keels this year
because the control tower went to the Bush War.
The Fall Rendezvous will be at Lake George. The ACBS national is
holding their annual meeting there September 27 - 30. This is a
significant event and it is right near our pond. There are several
ways to participate: get a ride on one of the boats doing the Hudson
River Cruise, sign on for one of the tours (Halls, Lake Placid,
etc), bring your boat to the Saturday Boat Show, volunteer to help,
or even attend the meeting and dinner. Check the ACBS website for
details.
Looking ahead, there will be a Directors meeting on Wednesday October
3rd.
The LCACBS Annual Meeting and Awards will be aboard the Northern
Lights on Sunday October 14th. Be there!
