Lake Champlain Chapter Antique and  Classic Boat Society Annual Meeting

October 14, 2006 Noon

Aboard the Northern Lights Cruise Chip

Approximately 45 members attended the cruise/brunch Annual Meeting.

The meeting was called to order by the President, Myndy Woodruff.

Treasurer's Report

The Treasurer's Report was given by Treasurer Mike Munson and placed on file.  As of September 30 a balance of $7,147.06 was seen.  When the outstanding receivables of sponsorships and advertising is factored in, the net for the Boat Show becomes $3,812.41.

Several questions come to mind since this year's Boat Show was different from the preceding years.

#1:  Should we develop a proposed budget for the upcoming year.

#2: Should we be filing with the IRS? Member Kent Stroebel stated that revenues over $500.00 make us liable for IRS reporting. This will be studied.

#3: We are selling items at the boat show and selling our calendars.  Are we liable for state sales tax?

The calendar sales were a financial success due to a large order of 50 calendars. No tax is charged.

A surplus is shown after this year's Boat Show of about $4,000.  There are accounts that have not been received a yet.  Funds will be needed to complete the Jim Shotwell Boat Building Kit project, a 19 foot Chris Craft runabout.  Plans to find a heated space to complete it this winter are being made.

The newsletter quality has been upgraded and has been very well received. Costs for the two postal newsletters per year are $1,000.

President's Report

Membership is up 10% to a record level of 119.

The Treasury balance is also at a record level.

Boating activities were held almost every month this year.

The Christmas Pot luck will be held again at Hans Pfister's home on December 9. Last year's Christmas Pot Luck was a smashing success.

There were five classic boat rendezvous with good attendance this summer.

There were three workshops.

The Fall cruise was well attended at Saranac Lake with 13 boats.

Three dinners were held, the April Annual Meeting in Plattsburgh , New York , the Boat Show dinnerat the Burlington Boathouse and the Annual Meeting Cruise aboard the Northern Lights.

Communications include our web site, the monthly Sounding, two glossy newsletters, plus invitations and  e mail updates.

The Boat Show grew to Maritime Festival Days with the Thunderbirds, a record attendance, record sponsorships and fifty antique and classic boats.

There has been fine communication with National ACBS.

This has been a good year for LCACBS and the same format will be used for next year.

Next month Keith Gaylord will chair a chapter development meeting to find out what track the LCACBS organization wishes to take in the future.  All interested persons are invited to bring ideas.

Myndy asked people to step forward to act as an apprentice for any position in the organization.

Three positions are open on the Board of Directors to expire in 2009. Myndy recommended George Maffey, Keith Gaylord, and Fred Woodward. They were unanimously elected by a show of hands. Jan Dean and Tom Anderson retired from the Board of Directors this year. Both were given applause for their fine contributions over the years.

Myndy suggested that LCACBS give $1,000 to each of the following organizations: Echo, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum , and the Burlington Sailing Center . During discussion, Treasurer Mike Munson disapproved due to the fact that the boat building kit will need to be completed for at the least $3,000.  He did not want our resources to be depleted. All expenses are not tallied as yet. Since this was not in the form of a motion, no vote was taken.
