Lake Champlain Chapter ACBS Annual Spring Meeting

Comfort Inn in Plattsburgh , N.Y.

The Lake Champlain Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society held their spring  “kick off” meeting to the 2006 boating season on Saturday, April 29 at  5:30 PM in the Comfort Inn in Plattsburgh, New York with thirty three people attending.

 

Myndy Woodruff, President opened the meeting. He introduced new members Bill and Linda Steinfeld of Chazy , New York .

 

Jan Dean presented and distributed a poker game plan to encourage participation in the boating season’s events for 2006 as follows: Spring Meeting, June Essex Rendezvous, July 8 Hero’s Welcome, North Hero or Westport Marina, July 23 Willsboro Rendezvous, August 19thand 20th Boat Show, Wings Wheels and Keels on September 10, Fall Cruise on September 16, 17 and the October 15th Annual Meeting. 2006 Boat Show

Mike O’Brien, Chairman announced that this 2006 21st Anniversary Boat Show has expanded to a two day event which features the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival and Lake Champlain Maritime Museum plus the Vermont Air National “Guard “Wings Over Vermont”. The festivities begin Friday August 18th and run through Sunday August 20th with exhibits, boat building and a full array of waterfront activities.  The LCACBS show and judging will be Saturday 10am – 4pm and Sunday 9am-11am concluding with the boat show parade on Sunday 11am .  The Vermont Air National Guard waterfront celebration will be Saturday 11am-5pm including the U .S. Army Golden Knights, vintage and modern flying demonstrations;, and the highlight, The U. S. Air Force’s Thunderbirds.

Mike suggested that members make boat reservations for dockage Friday and Saturday nights at the Burlington Boat House.

 

Myndy introduced Sarah Lyman from the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum who presented the program for the evening, entitled, “Journey of the Lois McClure”.  Sarah was a full time crew member on the schooner’s journey to New York City .  A fine presentation was made including slides and pertinent historic information.

 

The meeting was adjourned.
