Hot Dawg!  The boating season has arrived (?).  Well at least the raw
material has arrived.  Have faith, the weather pendulum swings both
ways, and now let the glory days begin.   If only we could find the
cement dock... it's down there somewhere...  The good news is that with
the relentless rain and high humidity, the boats are not fully dried
out and need only a minimum of soaking up before launch.

Your Boat Show Committee has not slacked off.  Registrations are record
strong, although I think there may still be some slots available. Check
the website and download the application now.  We appreciate your early
response and please sign up for the Saturday dinner.  The current push
is to get sponsors and to get ads for the program.  If you know of a
potential advertiser, let Mike O'Brien or me know.  We have a great
media package that will get your message out to perhaps forty thousand
 spectators.

Check out your Club's website at <www.lcacbs.com>.  Web master Larry
Asam has updated it and added an interesting Boat Show Preview.  Larry
does regular updates and there are lots of interesting boats to
contemplate. You can submit your own trials and tribulations to the
letters page, and remember to send in your boat histories for the Show.

I am saddened to report that LC member George Barnes passed away after
a long struggle with the big C.  He was a classic boater from way back.
He spent many summers in the Thousand Islands and worked for a tour
boat out of Alexandria Bay.   A Mad River skier, George found he needed
a Lake Champlain boat as well as a Thousand Island treasure. His CC Sea
Skiff, Barnacle,  was a regular at our club events.  His antique Gar
Wood, Fin, was nicely restored and he brought it to the Clayton Show
last summer.  George was a skilled skipper and a true enthusiast. We
 will miss him.

The Club Vintage Boat Rendezvous at the Old Dock House in Essex was a
great success.  There was a nice turn out under fair skies and friendly
waters. Luncheon was at the water's edge. Two rendezvous are planned
for July.  Note that the North Hero, Hero"s Welcome event was canceled
so that we could all support the Carroll's 25th Celebration at
 Westport.

 UPCOMING EVENTS:

Saturday, July 8th   Westport Marina (NY) Club Vintage Boat Rendezvous.
12:30 luncheon buffet with music and fun all day.  We will celebrate
the Carroll family's 25th year at the Marina.  They have been great
hosts to several of our annual shows and now is the time to support
them.  Check out their website <www.westportmarina.com> to see all the
activities that Dee Carroll has planned.  Let <EdBombard@pshift.com>,
Mike O"Brien or me know if you are coming.  We need a boat count as
they will feature our antiques. Be there. Bring sun. This will be fun.

Sunday, July 23rd  Willsboro Bay Marina (NY) Club Vintage Boat
Rendezvous.   5:30 early dinner at the Upper Deck.  Willsboro is one of
the Lake's prettiest settings and the Upper Deck does it justice.  The
early dinner should permit you to have plenty of daylight for the trip
home.  Again, let rendezvous Chairman Ed Bombard know if you  are
 attending.

Sharon Meyer of WCAX is planning on showing several "Interesting Boats
on Lake Champlain" as part of her nightly weather reports.  These will
include some of our membership boats and will be filmed and televised
in the near future, as weather premits.

Remember, it is best to put the drain plug in before launching.  Enjoy
 the summer.  Myndy
