1958 Thompson Sea Lancer 18' $1750 O.B.O.

Very little restoration is needed to bring this classic beauty back to her glory.  Originally purchased brand new by my Uncle in Trenton, Michigan, this 'ol girl sat in sheltered storage for over 25 years before becoming my project.  All original parts come with this boat.  Nothing is missing.  Outboard is a 1957 Evinrude V4-50hp original to boat.  Trailer is original Gator and in good structural/mechanical condition.  Will require some minor rib scarfing and bottom panel work (due to mice nesting under flooring and dry rot from 25 years of urination).  All other wood components and floor are structurally sound.  Engine fired and ran last year (2007).  Many new original replacement parts on motor.  Hate to see this one go, but I just don't have the time to complete her.  Call with questions.  Kevin W. Leitz: cell - (989) 714-5806.  Freeland, Michigan

1954 '22 Shepherd utility

1954 '22 Shepherd utility for restoration. The frame and hull are solid with no know broken ribs or frames, although a few planks on the hull are starting to soften in the aft where they meet the transom. The topsides and deck look terrible with the varnish peeling and wrinkling. Definately requires a full sanding and refinish from bare wood. Unfortunately from when I bought the boat, the deck hardware and windshield were removed and not included with the boat. The interior was gutted  for the resteraion . The original engine and gauges were also removed and replaced with a 305 mercruiser from the late 80s and a hydraulic reverse transmission. Trailer rolls but I would not advise driving with it. Please  email with any questions, thank you.

Save a Thompson

1957Thompson26.jpg   1957Thompson33.jpg  1957Thompson39.jpg

I was approached by a local man (southern Vermont) who would like to give his boat away to someone who has interest in it or he will burn it soon to make room for his wife?s perennial garden.

Apparently, the man, a carpenter bought the boat 20 years ago with every intention of restoring her himself and has never found the time nor resources to begin. He has now recognized that the boat should be given away or destroyed.

I have two projects underway in my shop and do not have the resources nor the space myself to take on a project of this magnitude. On the other hand, It would be very sad if this rare boat is burned and if that is the case, I will scavenge the hardware myself. ?I would much rather see this magnificent boat restored.

·   I have never seen another Thompson like this one:
·   18 feet LOA ·   Two single seats in front, two long bench seats in the rear along the gunnels
·   High freeboard  ·   Vintage, working Evinrude twin engine controls ·   All hardware complete and    appears to be in good condition  ·   100% of wood will need to be replaced
·   Windshield is complete and glass unbroken

In the interest of history and preservation, I will help expedite this deal if there is any interest.

Thank you,  Matt    fitzzzo@verizon.net
